So this has been bugging me for a while now... and for some reason I find blogging about things that bother me somewhat therapeutic.  

Locker Room Etiquette:

Disclosure:  I'm no prude, homo-phob or whatever things you'll call me after reading this.  Or if I'm lucky, perhaps you'll agree with me and start a movement to bring awareness to the lack of locker room etiquette! How's that for a noble social mission? 

Scenario 1:  I'm in the locker room of Los Cab,  the gym we belong to that my wife frequents all the time :)! Anyway, older dudes are always hanging out in all there glory.  Now....  I'm not saying you need to wear a robe or whatever.  You're there to shower, change, sauna... whatever.... so do your thing.  But for the love of god man... have just a shred of modesty when rollin' around the joint. This isn't your house, condo or whatever.   I mean seriously,  there are older dudes in there that will just camp out and watch sports center,  carry on 20 minute conversations with their buddies in the 'ole birthday suit. And by the looks of some of these dudes they've had a TON of birthdays!   So today was the topper when I rolled into the locker room and BAM, SHAPOWZIE,  I was met by a dude who had to be 85 or 90 using a cane in all his glory just standing and watching the WorldCup.  No towel, no clothes.....  just him and his trusty cane. Not really sure where he was headed either.... looked like he was headed for the door which coulda been scary!

Is it the most awful social faux pau?  No,  of course not!  I mean if I had to choose between that and some jackass cutting over 4 lanes on the 405 South Bound at Harbor Blvd @ 4:45pm on a Friday,  I'd take being visually accosted by grandpa's glory...  but really.... we gotta start using some towels in this joint Please People !!!

Scenario 2: 

On yet another occasion at the lovely Los Cab Athletic Club,  I was surprised to see the following:  I'm taking a shower after a long bike ride and swim.  While shaving.... I'm listening to a conversation a Dad in another shower is having with what sounds like his younger son maybe 4 or 5 years old.  "Whatever" I think to myself....  Dad's in the shower showing the kid the ropes of going to the gym, getting fit, and a little personal hygiene.... good enough, whatever.  Only problem is... a little later in that same conversation... Dad says,  "OK Nicole.... time to get out of the shower"   NICOLE?  Really dude?  You're gonna bring your 4 or 5 year old daughter in the Men's Locker Room?  Really?   I mean bad enough that there seems to be creepier people born every second nowadays,  but dude... how 'bout a little respect for the other dudes in the locker room?   Just as I've said above.... this particular locker room is famous for older dudes just hanging it all out there.... no 4 or 5 year old girl needs to see that.  Totally different if it's like an infant or even toddler..... but a 4 or 5 year old girl?  C'mon man.  Either skip the shower or have Mom take her in the Women's locker room!   Geez.... the nerve of some people. 

So.....help me spread my cause !! 

1) Bring a towel to the locker room and use it ! 

2) Leave the kids at home..... and if you can't skip the shower and just deal with it 'till you get home!
